Hey, I’m Nicole! Thanks for popping by to learn a little more about me!
I was taught to knit and crochet a few years ago by my mom, and explored it for a while in art school. In 2015, I was running a jewelry business, and working a particularly slow event, and thought, “hey, I could be knitting right now.” What started out as a hobby became a true passion, and I accidentally fell in love with knitwear design. I mentioned before I went to art school – I have a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts with a focus in drawing from the Alberta College of Art + Design (now Alberta University of the Arts). Art and design have always played a major role in my life, and I think that’s where the passion for knitwear design came from – it was a natural transition from designing on paper, to designing 3-dimensional objects.
A couple quick facts about me – my favourite colour is pink, I love dogs, and I’m getting married this summer. (If you’re reading this after August 2019 remind me to update my blog, ha!) My absolute favourite things to knit are socks and sweaters! I occasionally dabble in crochet (especially for blankets), but my heart belongs to knitting. I am obsessed with yarn and have way too much – my 2019 goal is STASH BUSTING – I’ll keep you posted with how that turns out. I have the best dog ever named Shyla (if you follow me on instagram, you’ll see her popup in my stories!) – I’m 100% the kind of person who will stop to pet your dog. No matter what.
During the day I work for a local business as an e-commerce developer, and I also do freelance copywriting for a yarn shop, a specialty boutique, and a natural skin care company – hit me up if you’re interested in my services.
I love collaborating with indie dyers and large brands alike – if this is something that interests you, please give me a shout at woolfieldstudio (at) gmail.com or contact me here.
